The Covid-19 pandemic adversely affected many people around the world, including businesses in the hospitality sector. Though this year has been bizarre, every once in a while a heartwarming story surfaces on the internet, and strengthens our faith in humanity.
One such incident took place in Pennsylvania, USA after a customer generously tipped USD 5,000 (Rs 3,67,243) to a future nurse working as a waitress at a restaurant. According to Fox News, the tip will now help fund her college degree.
In a Facebook post, that has now gone viral, an Italian restaurant in the United States, Anthony’s at Paxon shared a picture of a receipt showing how a customer left a USD 5,000 tip for a USD 205 bill. Now, this is called spreading some Christmas cheer.
Sharing the picture, the restaurant wrote, “We have no words other than THANK YOU!! Unbelievable support for our staff here!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! Thank you for helping our staff get though the holidays!! We LOVE and APPRECIATE you ALL!! We have the best community around!! (sic).”
According to Fox News, the waitress, Gianna DiAngelo, who is a freshman at Widener University in Chester and studying to be a nurse, got the tip from one of her tables. It was left by a group of regular customers.
“I’m just happy with anything. I just couldn’t even believe it. I’m going to put that money away towards college and pay it forward to do something good for other people,” the woman said.
