In the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic, Google launched a throwback doodle series and has been sharing some of their popular interactive Google doodle games since the beginning of the week. Today’s Google doodle is from 2017 and celebrates filmmaker and visual artist Oskar Fischinger.

“Stay and play at home with popular past Google Doodles: Fischinger (2017),” is the message that is displayed as you hover over the animated logo. Today’s Google doodle will redirect you to a page wherein you can play Fischinger. To play the game, you need to click around with your mouse and will be able to create your own visual music composition.

This particular Google doodle was originally published on June 22, 2017 to celebrate Oskar Fischinger’s 117th birthday. Of Fischinger, the Google doodle page said, “He is best known for his ability to combine impeccably synchronized abstract visuals with musical accompaniment, each frame carefully drawn or photographed by hand.”

Google has been featuring throwback doodle games over the week so that people can utilise their time at home amid the novel coronavirus outbreak and play interactive games as such.

“As Covid-19 continues to impact communities around the world, people and families everywhere are spending more time at home. In light of this, we’re launching a throwback Doodle series looking back at some of our popular interactive Google Doodle games,” the page said.

Prior to the throwback doodle games, Google doodle had launched a series wherein it thanked coronavirus warriors such as doctors, nurses, healthcare workers and delivery personnel, who are at the frontline of the Covid-19 outbreak.

The novel coronavirus, first reported in China’s Wuhan in December 2019, has affected over three million people across 180 countries. The number of novel coronavirus cases in India is about to touch the 30,000 mark while the death toll is nearing thousand.
