Almost the entire world is in a government-mandated lockdown to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus. With humans staying inside their homes, wildlife has taken over the streets. In the recent past, we came across videos of Nilgai and Sambar deer roaming freely on the now-empty streets and now, a video of penguins taking a leisurely walk on the streets of Cape Town has gone viral.
Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Susanta Nanda shared the aforementioned video with the caption, “Penguins check the streets of Auckland, searching for the humans.”
However, he was soon corrected by his followers about the place being Cape Town in South Africa and not New Zealand.
The 27-second video shows three penguins casually crossing the streets and waking on the pavements of a society.
We have never seen penguins out in the open like this before. The clip went viral as soon as it was shared online. It garnered more than 1.4k views and a lot of likes.
